Fortunately, there are many treatments for conditions affecting the liver and its related biliary system. Liver transplantation is the procedure of last resort for people with severe liver disease and liver failure. Although cirrhosis is the leading cause of liver failure, every patient with cirrhosis does not require a liver transplant.
