Partnering with Patients and Families for Better Care 

At University Hospital, we are committed to ensuring that our patients and families are actively involved in shaping the care and services we provide. Our Patient & Family Advisory Council (PFAC) brings together patients, family members, community members, and hospital staff to enhance patient and family experiences. Through collaboration, PFAC members share valuable insights to guide improvements in policies, programs, and services. 

Our Mission 

PFAC’s mission is to ensure that patient and family voices are at the heart of University Hospital’s care experience. By working closely with hospital teams, PFAC members help us create a compassionate and effective healthcare environment for everyone. 

PFAC Member Responsibilities 

PFAC members meet monthly to: 

  • Share perspectives and personal experiences to enhance services and policies. 
  • Provide feedback on new programs and initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with staff to support a welcoming and healing environment. 

PFAC Member Qualities 

We seek individuals who: 

  • Can share insights and experiences that others can learn from. 
  • Look beyond personal experiences to consider the broader impact. 
  • Show concern for multiple issues and are open to different perspectives. 
  • Demonstrate strong listening skills and respect others’ viewpoints. 
  • Speak honestly and comfortably in a group setting. 
  • Interact well with diverse individuals and work in partnership with others. 
  • Share their story in a meaningful and constructive way.
