Cardio Oncology

Cardio-oncologists are specialized cardiologists who have expertise in treating heart disease in patients with cancer or a previous history of cancer. Our primary goal is to ensure our patients are able to receive optimal treatment for their cancer while minimizing the short and long term risks to their heart. We perform cardiac evaluations for patients before they undergo cancer related surgery and before they begin treatment with chemotherapy that could potentially cause damage to the heart. Additionally, we have expertise in managing the adverse side effects of chemotherapy on the heart. We work closely with our patients’ oncology treatment teams to provide coordinated care and ensure timely evaluations to avoid delays in cancer treatment. Our Cardio-Oncology service evaluates patients in the clinic and in the inpatient setting and our patients have access to the full spectrum of cardiac testing in one location.
