The Division specializes in the treatment of adult and pediatric spinal disorders. Special expertise is offered in the operative and non-operative management of spinal trauma, degenerative spinal conditions, spinal tumors and spinal deformities including scoliosis. Where indicated, minimally invasive surgical techniques are utilized, including laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and other forms of microendoscopic treatment. Our surgeons, Dr. Michael Vives and Dr. Saad Chaudhary, are fellowship trained in the latest techniques in spine surgery. They utilize a team approach to patient treatment and work closely with rehabilitiation specialists, pain management experts, and neurologists to coordinate a patient’s treatment regimen.
Dr. Michael Vives In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Vives is an active researcher and holds positions on the editorial boards of several scientific journals and is the Chairman of the Scientific Program for Spine at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. This experience provides him a unique perspective on the spectrum of treatments available.
Dr. Saad Chaudhary. Has a clinical interest in the evaluation and management (surgical and non-surgical) of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine disorders. He has dedicated interest in minimally invasive spine surgery (MIS), scar-tissue reduction, and motion preservation surgery including artificial disc replacement. He also specializes in the surgical treatment for complex spinal deformity and scoliosis, spinal tumors, spinal fractures and failed spine surgeries.
