Important Monkeypox Screening & Vaccine Information

University Hospital’s Communicable Disease Practice is now open and booking appointments. The practice will include testing, treatment and vaccination (based on supply) for the Monkeypox Virus (hMPXV).

University Hospital has been provided a limited number of Monkeypox vaccine (JYNNEOS™) by the New Jersey Department of Health for New Jersey residents who meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Known public Monkeypox exposure in the last 14 days
  • People who attended an event where a known Monkeypox exposure occurred within the last 14 days
  • Multiple sexual partners in the last 14 days where a case of Monkeypox has been confirmed

If you suspect that you may have Monkeypox, call 973-972-8906 to begin the virtual screening process and/or to schedule an in-person appointment for the Communicable Disease Practice.

The Monkeypox Vaccine – JYNNEOS™

The CDC recommends that vaccination with JYNNEOS can be considered for people determined to be at high risk for infection to prevent Monkeypox disease. JYNNEOS vaccine is licensed as a series of two doses administered 28 days (4 weeks) apart.
