University Hospital’s Allergy and Immunology department provides comprehensive patient care and consultation regarding cases allergic and immuno-diagnostic problems. Evaluation and treatment services are provided on both an inpatient and outpatient basis for patients with asthma and allergies, including food, drug and insect allergies, known or suspected vaculitis, mast cell disorders, and immunodeficiencies.

Our research team along with our clinical expertise give us the ability to manage immunodeficiency problems, anaphylaxis, recalcitrant asthma, state-of-the-art immunotherapy, and the treatment of vasculitis.

Laboratory Services:

Laboratory services include R.A.S.T., IgE, immunoglobulins, immune complexes and complement components, histamine assays, and pollen counts. In conjunction with the Division of Hematology, immunologic assays are offered, such as cellular function assays including lymphokines, natural killer cell function, autologous and mixed lymphocyte responses, and other cellular assays.

Immuno-Ophthalmology

Immuno-ophthalmology is offered in conjunction with the our Ophthalmology Department. Referrals are accepted for the systemic evaluation of iritis, uveitis, retinal vasculitis, orbital pseudotumor, pseudotumor cerebri, temporal arteritis/vasculits and other autoimmune associated ocular disorders.

Rheumatology

Rheumatology provides a full-range of diagnostic and treatment services to patients with joint and immune disorders. A comprehensive approach and continuity of care is ensured through close collaboration with Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Orthopaedics, and the Pain Management Center. The section’s staff has special interest and expertise in lyme disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, and other forms of autoimmune disorders.
