University Hospital Welcomes Dr. Paul J. Gaglio as Director of Liver Disease and Transplant Hepatology

UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL WELCOMES DR. PAUL J. GAGLIO AS DIRECTOR OF LIVER DISEASE AND TRANSPLANT HEPATOLOGY

University Hospital is pleased to announce that Paul J. Gaglio, MD FACP, AGAF, FAASLD, has been named the Director of the Division of Liver Disease and Transplant Hepatology as well as the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at University Hospital and Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Gaglio will also serve as a Professor of Medicine at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School.

Before joining University Hospital, Dr. Gaglio was the Director of Hepatology Outreach and a Professor of Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He is the former medical director of Adult Liver Transplantation at The Montefiore Medical Center, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, and The Tulane University Medical Center.

After receiving his medical degree from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Gaglio completed an internship and residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center and a fellowship at UMDNJ. In addition to publishing multiple manuscripts, book chapters, and abstracts, he has participated in numerous research trials related to the treatment of hepatitis B and C, fatty liver disease, liver transplantation, and the treatment of liver failure.

Dr. Gaglio is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease.  Among several teaching awards, Dr. Gaglio was named Physician of the Year by the New York Chapter of the American Liver Foundation in 2011 and has been consistently listed as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in the New York Metro Area.
