November 6, 2025 – University Hospital has been recognized by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) as a Level 8 recipient in the 2025 Digital Health Most Wired (DHMW) program for the Acute category. This distinction highlights the hospital’s ongoing commitment to leveraging technology to enhance patient outcomes, expand access to care, and support clinicians with data-driven decision-making.

The CHIME Digital Health Most Wired program is an internationally recognized benchmarking initiative that honors healthcare organizations demonstrating excellence in digitally enabled care. Among more than 50,000 facilities represented worldwide, University Hospital distinguished itself by achieving high marks in key areas including clinical quality and safety, data analytics, cybersecurity, infrastructure, population health, patient engagement, and innovation. The survey evaluates the adoption maturity, outcomes, and value of technology integration across healthcare organizations at all stages of digital maturity; from early-phase digitization to advanced transformation.

“We are proud to be recognized among the nation’s leading hospitals advancing digital health innovation,” said Tom Schoenig, Interim Chief Information Officer at University Hospital. “This achievement reflects our team’s dedication to building a secure, connected, and patient-centered digital environment that supports high-quality care and strengthens our mission to serve the Newark community and beyond.”

As healthcare organizations continue to face complex challenges, including rising cybersecurity threats, evolving care models, workforce shortages, and budget constraints, the need to accelerate digital transformation has never been more urgent. That is why the Digital Health Most Wired survey serves as a comprehensive “Digital Health Check-up” for healthcare organizations worldwide, allowing University Hospital to benchmark its progress against leading organizations and explore new approaches to care.
