University Hospital Recognized as One of New Jersey’s Best Employers in 2025

Tuesday, August 26, 2025 – University Hospital has once again been recognized by Forbes as one of New Jersey’s Best Employers of the year, ranking 39th out of thousands of eligible employers statewide. This repeated recognition reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to fostering a positive work environment and supporting employee advancement and success.

The Forbes Best-In-State Employers list, created with Statista, is based on surveys of over 160,000 employees nationwide from organizations with 500+ staff. Rankings are determined by employee feedback on job satisfaction, community impact, workplace culture, pay equity, career growth, and responsiveness, as well as how likely they are to recommend their workplace to others.

“Being named one of New Jersey’s top employers is a reflection of the culture we are building together,” said Dr. Kaitlan Baston, Interim President & CEO. “At University Hospital, we are as committed to caring for our employees as we are to our patients. When our staff thrive, their pride in working here naturally extends to the communities we serve.”

University Hospital employs nearly 4,000 team members and is New Jersey’s only public acute care hospital and the principal teaching hospital for Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. The hospital is home to Northern New Jersey’s only state-certified Level I Trauma Center, a nationally-recognized EMS program, and serves as a cornerstone for community health in Newark and beyond.
