The Section of Urology offers consultative, diagnostic and therapeutic services to inpatients and outpatients for disorders of the genitourinary system. Sophisticated radiological and urological instrumentation is available for diagnosis and treatment of complex cases. A multidisciplinary setting for the evaluation and management of patients with genitourinary malignancies, such as bladder or kidney cancer, emphasizing state-of-the-art therapy combined with clinical trials as indicated, is provided by the clinical team that consists of urologic oncologists, radiation therapist, medical oncologists and nursing. Oncological surgical procedures include radical prostatectomy, cystectomy, and nephrectomy; lymph node dissection; and pelvic exenteration. Minimally invasive surgical techniques are available for a variety of procedures including kidney stone removal, nephrectomy, and partial nephrectomy. Robotic surgery is available and performed when clinically indicated.

Reconstructive surgery of the lower urinary tract for traumatic urethral strictures, hypospadias, vesicovaginal fistulas, traumatic injuries to the bladder and ureters, and replacement of the lower ureter is offered for other conditions.

The Section of Urology offers specialized programs for male patients with prostate and sexual dysfunction conditions. The Prostate Brachytherapy Center provides patients with a multidisciplinary and comprehensive array of treatment options for prostate cancer, and the Male Sexual Dysfunction Center provides state-of-the-art evaluation and management of male erectile dysfunction. A wide variety of therapies are offered that will be thoroughly reviewed during the office visit.

Patients experiencing kidney stone disease are evaluated and treated in concert with the Stone Center of New Jersey, a freestanding facility equipped with an HM-4 lithotriptor and adjacent to University Hospital.
