The Division provides specialized services in the field of digestive disease surgery, including surgery of the liver, pancreas, biliary tract, stomach, colon, and rectum, as well as complex hernia repairs. Thyroid surgery and surgery of the endocrine glands are additional areas of expertise. As clinically appropriate, minimally invasive surgical techniques are used to enhance the patient recovery time. Some minimally invasive procedures include: esophagogastric fundoplasty, and thoracosopic sympathectomy for the treatment of hyperhidrosis.
Another unique area of specialty is the medical and surgical therapy of chronic and acute wounds, including burns and soft tissue infections. The staff is proficient in the latest techniques of laser surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and laparoscopic techniques. The Division also offers expertise in the area of bloodless surgery and medicine. Patients requiring re-operative or complex surgery are particularly welcomed for referral.
