The Department of Psychiatry provides a full spectrum of subspecialty services, both to individuals and groups. Expert care is offered in both primary and tertiary care in a wide variety of psychiatric specialties. Outpatient and inpatient services include the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness, including emotional and behavioral problems in children, adolescents and adults.
University Psychiatric Associates is the group practice of the Department of Psychiatry. It is composed of faculty members of the Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School Department of Psychiatry, including thirty board-certified psychiatrists, licensed psychologists and other mental health professionals. All staff have sub-specialty expertise in general psychiatry, and many staff have additional expertise.
University Psychiatric Associates offers both traditional, individual practices, including consultation and the complete range of treatment modalities for adults and children, as well as several specialty programs, drawing upon the expertise of the faculty. Special services for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking patients are available.
