University Hospital’s volunteer chaplains are available to patients and their families, as well as staff members, for spiritual support. When requested, the chaplain can provide spiritual guidance and comfort through prayer, counsel and discussion about concerns, such as medical decisions and other personal and/or faith issues. These visits are arranged only by request.
Volunteer Eucharistic ministers bring communion to Catholic patients (on-call priests are available for the sacraments). Interfaith volunteers and seminary students visit patients and families as they make rounds through hospital units.
Our Multi-Faith Chapel is located on D-Level of the main hospital and is open 24 hours a day for use by the hospital community. It is a place for prayer and meditation, and occasionally religious services are held there. Devotional materials such as icons, prayer rugs and crosses are available for use in the chapel.
If you need assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask a nurse or call the Volunteer Office at extension 2-4064.
