TOPIC: Infection Control: General Principles, Hand Hygiene, Bloodborne Pathogens, TB, Bioterrorism, Personal Protective Equipment, Sharps Safety, (Adult Vaccination Programs/ nursing orientation only)

FREQUENCY: Upon employment at UH Orientation And Annually (Web-based for Refresher)

REQUIRED BY: The Joint Commission (TJC)/SDOH SDOH 8:43G-14.7(b)
The infection control professional shall coordinate educational programs to address specific problems, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or at least annually for staff in all patient care areas and services. SDOH 8:43G-14.7 (c)
Orientation for all new employees shall include infection control practices related to blood and body fluid precaution (that is, personal protective equipment), isolation practices, tuberculosis education, and use of protective vaccines. Additional orientation shall be directed to the employee's specific area of service. SDOH 8:43g-5.14 (c) The orientation shall occur before the employee is exposed or begins working with patients with hazardous bloodborne diseases.

TOPIC: Influenza

PARTICIPANTS: All UH employees

FREQUENCY: Upon employment at UH orientation And Annually during Infection Control Refresher.

REQUIRED BY: SDOH 8:43G-14.7(b)
The infection control professional shall coordinate educational programs to address specific problems, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or at least annually for staff in all patient care areas and services. SDOH 8:43G-14.7 (c) Orientation for all new employees shall include infection control practices related to blood and body fluid precaution (i.e., personal protective equipment, isolation practices, tuberculosis education, and use of protective vaccines).
Additional orientation shall be directed to the employee's specific area of service". SDOH 8:43g-5.14 (c)
The orientation shall occur before the employee is exposed or begins working with patients with hazardous bloodborne diseases. TJC Infection Control Standard IC 4.15, which requires education for all staff on influenza (effective 1/1/07)

TOPIC: HAZCOM REFRESHER FOR HEALTH CARE WORKERS

PARTICIPANTS: All Nursing, Clinical, and Technical staff working with hazardous chemicals or having potential exposure to hazardous materials in the workplace

University Hospital Mandated

TOPIC: Managing @ (UH) University Hospital

PARTICIPANTS: All newly-hired, newly promoted directors, managers, & supervisors, grades S,V,N,M,E

FREQUENCY: Within the first 90 days of hire/promotion.

REQUIRED BY: Board of Trustees

METHODOLOGY : Two day program that covers university policies, requirements/expectations of managers.

PARTICIPANTS: All newly-hired and newly-promoted supervisors who have completed the Managing @ UH Course.

METHODOLOGY : Four day program that covers Core skills for Front-line Supervisors.

PARTICIPANTS: All University Hospital should take this training, depending on whether their job title requires them to work in the specific areas of the EMS: e.g., air and water compliance, hazardous materials and waste management, asbestos, pest control, or underground storage tank compliance, emergency spill response

FREQUENCY: Initially and upon changes to the program

REQUIRED BY: Consent Agreement with NJDEP
