2018 TransitChek Monthly Limits

Attention TransitChek Participant:

WageWorks/TransitCheck has announced that the current $255 transit and commuter parking cap will increase to $260 per month effective January 1, 2018.

If you would like the increase to be reflected in your January benefit please log onto your account at TransitChek.com no later November 30 to make the change.

2018 Tax Deferral Limits

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has released the Annual Tax Deferral Limits for 2018.

Eligible employees may contribute on a pre-tax basis voluntary contributions in addition to their mandatory employee pension contribution.

NJ State Employees’ Deferred Compensation Plan (457 and Roth 457) Annual Tax Deferral Limits.

2018 State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) & Tax$ave Program Open Enrollment

There are only a few more days remaining to this year’s SHBP Open Enrollment period for the health and dental plans as well as the Tax$ave Program. All changes to coverage during this Open Enrollment will be effective January 1, 2018. Applications must be received in the UH Benefits Services Office no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

Current Tax$ave members must file a new enrollment application this Open Enrollment in order to participate in calendar year 2018. The enrollment form can be downloaded from our Open Enrollment webpage and mailed or faxed directly to WageWorks. The Benefits Office does not process these forms.
Enrollment in the Tax$ave office can also be done on line with WageWorks.

Flexible Spending Account Open Enrollment

The Tax$ave Flexible spending Account (FSA) Open Enrollment period will run from October 2 through October 31, 2017.

The FSA Unreimbursed Medical and or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) allow employees to set aside money to pay for out-of-pocket medical, dental and dependent care expenses through pre-tax contributions.

Employees must be eligible for enrollment in the State Health Benefits Program to participate in the Unreimbursed Medical Spending Account or the Dependent Care Plan.

Reminder: current members must file a new enrollment application this Open Enrollment to participate in calendar year 2018.

Open Enrollment for Plan Year 2018 will run from

October 2 through October 31, 2017

 State Health Benefits Program

Open Enrollment is the time eligible employees can make general changes such as add dependents, change coverage levels or enroll in a different medical or dental plan. All changes to coverage during this Open Enrollment will be effective January 1, 2018.

This year’s Benefits Fair will be on Thursday, October 19th from 10am to 4pm at UH H Level 349/342. HR Benefits Services staff, representatives from our health plans, investment providers and other vendors will be available to answer any questions you may have.

Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) Contribution Rate Increase

As established under Chapter 78, P.L. 2011, Pension and Health Benefits Reform, the PERS contribution will increase by 0.14 percent until the 7.5 percentage contribution rate is reached in July of 2018. The July 2018 increase will be 0.16 percent.

The PERS contribution rate will increase from 7.20% to 7.34% in the paycheck of July 14, 2017. The next contribution rate increase to 7.50% will be effective July 2018.

The change in the contribution rate will also increase the minimum repayment amount for new pension loans as well as the cost for a purchase of service credit if certified after the increase contribution becomes effective.

New Jersey State Employee Deferred Compensation Program (NJSEDCP)

New Jersey State Employee Deferred Compensation Program (NJSEDCP)

NJSEDCP is administered by Prudential Financial.

Every Friday from 9am until 3:30pm there are Prudential Representatives in the hospital’s cafeteria.

Starting in June and every first Friday of the month through the summer, a Prudential Representative will be in the cafeteria from 6am to 2pm, to better assist our overnight employees.

Prudential has also added another day of coverage. From now until August 29th a representative will be in the hospital cafeteria every Tuesday from 8:30am to 2:30pm.
