2019 SHBP Plan Year Open Enrollment & Benefits Fair Announcement

The State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) Open Enrollment period will run from October 1 through October 31, 2018.

Open Enrollment is the time eligible employees can make general changes such as add dependents, change coverage levels or enroll in a different medical or dental plan. All changes to coverage during this Open Enrollment will be effective January 1, 2019.

There are no medical plan changes for Plan Year 2019. The medical plans available to employees are:

  • Tiered-Network Plans: Aetna Liberty Plan; Horizon's OMNIA Health Plan

  • PPO Plans: Aetna Freedom15; Aetna Freedom1525; Aetna Freedom2030; Aetna Freedom2035; NJ DIRECT15; NJ DIRECT1525; NJ DIRECT2030; NJ DIRECT2035

  • HMO Plans: Aetna HMO; Horizon HMO

  • High Deductible Health Plans: Aetna Value HD1500; Aetna Value HD4000; NJ DIRECT HD1500; NJ DIRECT HD4000

Note: The service areas for Horizon HMO are limited to New Jersey, Delaware, and bordering counties of Pennsylvania, Delaware and New York.

There are no dental plan changes for Plan Year 2019. Dental coverage is offered to all eligible employees through the Employee Dental Plans. Six different dental plans are offered based on one of two different plan designs -Dental Plan Organizations (DPO) and a Dental Expense Plan (DEP).

Reminder: To be eligible to change your dental plan you must have been enrolled in your current plan for 12 or more months. If the effective date of your current dental plan is after January 1, 2018, you are not eligible to change the plan during this Open Enrollment.

Tax$ave Flexible Spending Account

OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR PLAN YEAR 2019 runs from October 1 through October 31, 2018.

The Unreimbursed Medical and/or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) allow employees to set aside money to pay for out-of-pocket medical, dental and dependent care expenses through pre-tax contributions.

Reminder: Current members must file a new enrollment application this Open Enrollment to participate in calendar year 2019.

Enrollment can be done via internet or FSA enrollment form can be faxed or mailed:

  • Internet: www.wageworks.com

  • Fax: FSA Enrollment Forms may be faxed by the employee to 866-672-4780

  • Mail: FSA Enrollment Forms can be mailed directly to WageWorks, Enrollment Processing, PO Box 14766, Lexington, KY 40512-4722

The deadline for internet or fax enrollments is midnight, October 31, 2018. Enrollment forms sent through US mail must be postmarked no later than October 31, 2018.

Enrollment forms cannot be processed through the HR Benefits Services Office. Forms received will be returned to the employee.

Employees must be eligible for enrollment in the State Health Benefits Program to participate in the Unreimbursed Medical Spending Account or the Dependent Care Plan.

Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) Notice of Election

The Division of Pensions and Benefits has requested that we distribute the Notice of PERS Election to each Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) member at University Hospital.

Nominations are being accepted to fill the position of one elected "State" position to the PERS Board of Trustees for the terms from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022.

Total Compensation Statements 2018

We are pleased to announce that eligible employees will be receiving their personalized "2018 Total Compensation Statement" which will be mailed to their home address on September 21, 2018. Eligible employees must be on the payroll as of June 18, 2018.

The Total Compensation Statement provides an overview of University Hospital's comprehensive Employee Benefits Package. The personalized benefits information provided is as of June 30, 2018. Please visit the employee portal at https://portal.uhnj.org to view any benefit plan or personal information change made after July 1, 2018.

The statement also serves as a reminder to make any necessary changes during the annual Open Enrollment in October. This year's Open Enrollment will run from October 1st through October 31st with coverage effective January 1, 2019. The Benefits Fair will be held on Friday, October 19th H-level, room 349/342 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2018 Planning for Your Retirement Seminar

University Hospital's HR Benefits Services Office is pleased to announce our annual Planning for Your Retirement Seminar for employees enrolled in the Alternate Benefit Program (ABP) or Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). The seminar is designed to provide employees with a better understanding of the options available at retirement and the process.

This year's seminar will be held on May 30, 2018 in the Delta Dental Conference Center-NJ Dental School Oral Health Pavilion-Lecture Hall B965 from 8:30am to 1:00pm.

2018 TransitChek Monthly Limits

Attention TransitChek Participant:

WageWorks/TransitCheck has announced that the current $255 transit and commuter parking cap will increase to $260 per month effective January 1, 2018.

If you would like the increase to be reflected in your January benefit please log onto your account at TransitChek.com no later November 30 to make the change.

2018 Tax Deferral Limits

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has released the Annual Tax Deferral Limits for 2018.

Eligible employees may contribute on a pre-tax basis voluntary contributions in addition to their mandatory employee pension contribution.

NJ State Employees' Deferred Compensation Plan (457 and Roth 457) Annual Tax Deferral Limits.

2018 State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) & Tax$ave Program Open Enrollment

There are only a few more days remaining to this year's SHBP Open Enrollment period for the health and dental plans as well as the Tax$ave Program. All changes to coverage during this Open Enrollment will be effective January 1, 2018. Applications must be received in the UH Benefits Services Office no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

Current Tax$ave members must file a new enrollment application this Open Enrollment in order to participate in calendar year 2018. The enrollment form can be downloaded from our Open Enrollment webpage and mailed or faxed directly to WageWorks. The Benefits Office does not process these forms.
Enrollment in the Tax$ave office can also be done on line with WageWorks.

Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) Contribution Rate Increase

As established under Chapter 78, P.L. 2011, Pension and Health Benefits Reform, the PERS contribution will increase by 0.14 percent until the 7.5 percentage contribution rate is reached in July of 2018. The July 2018 increase will be 0.16 percent.

The PERS contribution rate will increase from 7.20% to 7.34% in the paycheck of July 14, 2017. The next contribution rate increase to 7.50% will be effective July 2018.

The change in the contribution rate will also increase the minimum repayment amount for new pension loans as well as the cost for a purchase of service credit if certified after the increase contribution becomes effective.

New Jersey State Employee Deferred Compensation Program (NJSEDCP)

New Jersey State Employee Deferred Compensation Program (NJSEDCP)

NJSEDCP is administered by Prudential Financial.

Every Friday from 9am until 3:30pm there are Prudential Representatives in the hospital's cafeteria.

Starting in June and every first Friday of the month through the summer, a Prudential Representative will be in the cafeteria from 6am to 2pm, to better assist our overnight employees.

Prudential has also added another day of coverage. From now until August 29th a representative will be in the hospital cafeteria every Tuesday from 8:30am to 2:30pm.

Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) Contribution Rate Increase
