Change in Visitor Policy

The safety and well-being of our patients, visitors, and staff are our number one priority.  Consistent with this, we have further amended our visitor policy as outlined below.  We continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 landscape on a daily basis and will advise of any additional changes.

AT THIS TIME, NO VISITORS WILL BE ALLOWED AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL.

Limited exceptions may be permitted in the following circumstances and are subject to change:

      • Emergency Department: 1 visitor
      • Labor & Delivery, including Postpartum: 1 visitor
      • Pediatrics: 1 visitor
      • Ambulatory Care Center & Same Day Surgery Center: 1 visitor
      • Palliative Care: 1 visitor
      • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: 2 parents or support persons

All visitors will be screened and, at the sole discretion of University Hospital, may not be granted access.  No visitors under the age of 18 will be permitted.  No visitors will be allowed for patients undergoing screening for, or with a laboratory-confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.

University Hospital places the highest priority on the safety of our staff, patients, and guests.  We are working closely with our Local, State, and Federal Public Health Agencies, to ensure that we are prepared to handle suspected cases of Novel Coronavirus, COVID-19. 

 

How is University Hospital preparing for COVID-19?

  • Screening signs & Respiratory Hygiene Stations are available at all public entrances to University Hospital, which enables visitors and patients to review the symptoms of COVID-19 and easily access face masks if they are feeling ill.
  • The Emergency Department is fully prepared and has been screening patients suspected of having COVID-19.
  • Hospital personnel have participated in mock Novel Coronavirus patient exercises to test our processes.

 

How is University Hospital keeping you safe?

  •  Patients suspected of having COVID-19 are appropriately isolated as per CDC and NJ Department of Health recommendations.
  • The hospital has adequate supplies of PPE, which are available for any staff who are caring for any suspected COVID-19 patients.
