JAMES M. ORSINI, M.D.
Dr. James Orsini, a lifelong resident of New Jersey resides in Montclair, with his wife, and four children. He attended Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. Dr. Orsini completed his medical school education at the University of Bologna, in Bologna, Italy. He completed his internship and residency in the field of Internal Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (Martland Hospital, Newark, NJ).
Dr. Orsini then entered into an Oncology Fellowship at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center under the direction of Dr. Frederick B. Cohen. He furthered his training at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Department of Neoplastic Diseases under renowned oncologists, Dr. James F. Holland and Dr. Larry Norton. Dr. Orsini was the recipient of the prestigious Weinberg Grant in Medical Oncology and was able to further his education at the Milan Cancer Center, Milan, Italy under world-renowned breast specialist, Dr. Umberto Veronese. Dr. Orsini was then appointed Director of United Hospital’s Cancer program in Newark, NJ and was simultaneously appointed to the Commission on Cancer Research by Governor James Florio.
Dr. Orsini was a leading member of the American Cancer Society where he served as chairman. He was appointed to the Board of Trustees at Clara Maass Medical Center, and made the Director of the Medical Oncology Program where he still serves. Dr. Orsini was appointed to the State Board of Medical Examiners (Physicians Panel Review), by Governor Richard Cody where he still serves as Vice Chairman. Dr. Orsini has extensive publications in the field of Medical Oncology.
He was appointed to the University Hospital Board of Directors on July 1, 2013, and currently serves as Vice-Chairman. Dr. Orsini’s term will expire in 2018.
